The Zhongchuan Navigation Blue Sun series fiber-optic gyrocompass boasts 60 years of accumulated expertise and experience in the gyrocompass field. At the start of 2023, CSSC Navigation successfully won the bid for the “Fiber-Optic Gyrocompass Retrofit Project for 13 Vessels” awarded by China Merchants Group’s Sinotrans Container Shipping Co., Ltd. This project was a tender launched by well-known domestic and international commercial vessel owners, and it also marks the first large-scale retrofit project for fiber-optic gyrocompasses in China. The successful award of this project signifies that CSSC Navigation’s Blue Sun series fiber-optic gyrocompasses have now achieved large-scale application on vessels operated by key major clients, taking a solid step toward its strategic goal of becoming the “Huawei of the gyrocompass industry.”

CSSC Navigation is the birthplace of China’s first traditional marine gyrocompass and also an industry leader in fiber-optic gyrocompasses. The Blue Sun series of fiber-optic gyrocompasses from CSSC Navigation is a new-generation marine gyrocompass independently developed by leveraging the advantages of the fiber-optic communication industry cluster. It features short startup time, high heading accuracy, maintenance-free operation throughout its entire lifecycle, and the capability to provide ship attitude information. The first Blue Sun fiber-optic gyrocompass, installed and put into operation in 2013, has been running stably for 10 years. To date, more than 200 units have been installed on commercial vessels, and the product has obtained certification from both CCS and DNV classification societies.
